Person found dead in Jennings County house fire
— An investigation is underway after a person was found dead in a house fire in Jennings County Sunday afternoon.
The fire happened April 12 in the area of Honeylocust Place in the Country Squire Lakes community, around six miles northwest of North Vernon.
Responding crews found a home fully engulfed in flames and a male was discovered dead inside, the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office said. His name has not yet been released.
“Deputies contacted the Indiana Department of Homeland Security Fire Marshal’s division to assist with the ongoing investigation,” the sheriff’s office said. “There is no risk to the public.”
